18 Years of the Beautiful Game
Soccer has been a constant in Brooke Mullins' life for 18 years. Through every change, every season, every chapter — soccer was always there. That consistency led her to play at the collegiate level at UT Tyler, an opportunity she describes as nothing short of amazing.
“It gave me the opportunity to play at the collegiate level at UT Tyler, which I am eternally grateful for. My experience there was nothing short of amazing. I got the chance to grow immensely as a player and a person and created so many relationships that have greatly impacted me.”
Injuries, Resilience, and Choosing to Return
Brooke's journey wasn't without hardship. Multiple knee injuries threatened to take the game away from her — but she refused to let them. Every single time, she chose to recover, to rehab, and to return to the pitch.
“I have experienced multiple knee injuries throughout my time playing, but I always chose to recover and return to the field, even when it didn't seem possible. Despite the pain and struggling, I would do it time and time again.”
That decision — to keep choosing soccer even when it was hard — is one of the most powerful things the game teaches. It's not just athletic resilience. It's the kind of strength that carries into every part of life.
A Family for Life
As her competitive career came to a close, Brooke reflects not with regret but with deep gratitude. The game gave her a purpose, memories, joy, opportunities — and above all, a family for life.
“I urge everyone to never take a moment for granted. Next thing you know you'll be wishing you could step on the pitch one last time. I am so glad that my four year old self decided to choose the most beautiful game in the world.”
